M450 Metal 3D Printer

The M450 is an industrial‑grade multi‑laser Selective Laser Melting (SLM) metal additive‑manufacturing system adopting powder‑bed laser melting technology. Equipped with four sets of laser‑scanning modules, it delivers a build envelope of 450×450×300 mm. The machine is well‑suited for large‑size part prototyping, new‑material process development and medium‑to‑small‑batch industrial production. Featuring a modular mechanical layout, integrated process monitoring, circulating gas purification and closed‑loop motion control, it serves aerospace, defense, automotive, mold‑making and research‑institute applications. It fabricates high‑density functional metal components with intricate internal cavities, lattice structures and conformal cooling channels which are difficult to produce via conventional manufacturing methods.

SLM Technical Features

  1. Multi‑laser Parallel Optical System: Multiple groups of 500 W fiber laser sources work in coordination with independent closed‑loop grating‑controlled galvanometers. Multi‑beam parallel scanning across the full build area greatly improves production throughput. Superior beam quality and adjustable focal depth guarantee consistent spot performance over the whole working field. Maximum scanning speed reaches 7 m/s per galvanometer.
  2. Robust Bi‑directional Recoating Mechanism: Bi‑directional variable‑speed recoating supports both high‑speed‑steel and silicone‑rubber blades. Integrated overload‑torque protection triggers immediate alarm and stop upon blade collision. Layer thickness is continuously adjustable from 20 μm to 400 μm to satisfy diverse accuracy and material requirements.
  3. Closed‑loop Powder‑bed Pre‑heating & Thermal Imaging Monitoring: DLS area‑source powder‑bed pre‑heating together with 30‑180 °C closed‑loop substrate heating effectively mitigates cracking for titanium and high‑temperature alloys. On‑board thermal‑imaging sensors record full thermal‑field data inside the chamber and generate complete process logs.
  4. Multi‑stage Explosion‑proof Gas Circulation & Purification System: Dual air‑outlet wind‑field quickly removes fumes and spatter particles. Three‑stage filtration consists of cyclone separator, H13 sintered plate filter and H13 fine filter with on‑line blow‑back function for extended filter service life. Chamber oxygen level is controlled ≤100 ppm with audio‑visual alarm upon threshold violation. Valves and pipelines are safely interlocked with chamber‑door status and oxygen readings to prevent dust ignition hazards.
  5. Fully‑independent Software Control System: Self‑developed slicing and path‑planning software with fully‑open process parameters. Supports STL import, support generation, multi‑mode filling and rotating scan‑angle strategies. Print‑job resume after interruption and real‑time parameter modification are available. Built‑in fault diagnosis with tri‑color audio‑visual alarm monitors oxygen level, temperature, recoating status, Z‑axis position and other critical process data, with full‑data archiving.
  6. Comprehensive Safety Protection: Dual mechanical‑electronic interlock for chamber doors meeting Class‑4 laser safety requirements. Emergency‑stop buttons, regulated power supply and static‑electricity‑dissipation design are implemented. Interface for Class‑D fire extinguisher complies with industrial safety specifications.
